Sunday Night At The Market IV - Those Sweet, Slow Dog Days of Summer...
And even worse, Brady’s Clavis Calendarium, 1813 described them as: an evil time "when the seas boiled, wine turned sour, dogs grew mad, and all creatures became languid, causing to man burning fevers, hysterics, and phrensies"
Holy cow - luckily we now have air conditioning and time for Sunday afternoon naps and no need for sacrificing a poor little brown doggie!!
So, how do YOU spend those 'Dog Days' of mid-Summer? For me, it's a time to pause and reflect before the rush of energy that accompanies the crisp coolness of Fall and the busy holiday season that follows on its heels.
This little summer pause always gets the creative juices flowing for me - how about you? Any new pieces to share, or plans for new fall inventory? New ideas for getting a jump start for getting ready for the busy season? Thinking up some new advertising ideas? Maybe a little shopping spree? Join the artists of the Wearable Art Market tomorrow night for our Sunday Night at the Market get-together. The party starts in this forum thread:

Come and share your 'Dog Days' with us, starting at 7PM Eastern, 6PM Central, 5PM Mountain, 4PM Pacific. See you there!

More Wearable Art Creations
The artists at the Wearable Art Market have been busy!
Saturday, May 2, 2009
You are Invited....
Get out your pencils and mark your calendars, the next Wearable Art Market Sunday gathering will be May 3rd; 7pm EST, 6pm central, 5pm mountain and 4pm pacific time, till whenever!
The thread will be in the Wearable Art Market public forum-- http://www.1000markets.com/forums/23
The "Wearable Art Market" is eager to break down the walls between buyer & seller...opening the doors of discussion that will help everyone to understand a little more about our varied crafts and the inspiration behind it...even the day-to-day mondain tasks needed to be done to follow our passion.
With that in mind, the artists of the Wearable Art Market will be getting together Sunday evening and we'd love to have you join us!
Art will be the subject of course-- inspiration, latest ambitions, recent successes-- or works in progress-- BUT i recently watched an old video of "A Chorus Line"...and the question that came up, "what i did for love"...corny i know BUT i would like to ask a variation of that question--"what is the most silly or humiliating thing you've done for art? ...think about it & bring it to the forum!
I suggest you pop some popcorn, or maybe some salsa & chips, beverage of your choice, barefeet or "bunny" slippers a must, and maybe a pillow for your bum...we're in for the long haul.

Kasey McMahon -The Birdcage Dress & Other Things
From the artist herself:
"I am a conceptual artist and I see the world in color.
Influenced by technology, haute couture, hardware stores and the monsters living underneath my bed, curiosity drives much of my work. I believe imagination is a superpower we all possess, and encourage stepping out of grown up life for a moment to recall a child's eager fascination with even the most mundane. Flying machines, shiny things, antique maps and world's fairs delight me and I possess a rather unhealthy addiction to Eggs Benedict.
I am currently interested in exploring our diminishing relationship with nature as we become more reliant on technology. The projects I have brewing now deal with translating the idealized concept of cyberspace into physical, tangible form. I received a BA in Art History from UCLA, and live, work and scheme in downtown Los Angeles.
The dress will be on display at the Brewery Artwalk April 18 & 19 in downtown Los Angeles."
